To the best of my knowledge from many sources including here, I assembled the broadcast TV lineup for the San Diego/Tijuana area for a quick summary. Includes all known digital channel assignments.

It's rather big, so you can read it here. May contain some incomplete data or errors.

I believe that CH. 38 is XHTJB-DT. CH. 38 has the same coordinates as XHTJB which broadcasts on top of Cerro Colorado instead of Mt. San Antonio.

Univision 17 announced on their news, they will start broadcasting digital within three months after the transition on Feb 17. Now, I see they'll be in channel 20, while Telefutura will try ch 51 as LOW Digital. I dont like it. They shall go HIGH Digital at once.

I think that also confirms it for XHDTV. XHDTV share the same facilities as KBNT. Entravision will probably go HD for XHDTV since MNTV has some HD programming.

Can someone explain what the suffixes (DT, TD, LD and CD) stand for?

DT = Digital Television
TD = Television Digital
LD = Low Digital
CD = May be Restricted Digital

Restricted means like poiting to specific areas.
Like KBNT CA, CA means Restricted Analog, pointing just to the north & East, to avoid signal to Tijuana, something like that.

CD means Class A Low Power Digital. Digital LP translators use a -D suffix like K23TV-D. K23TV-D is just an example. LP is Low Power Analog. LD means Low Power Digital. TD is Terrestre Digital. TDT in English means Terrestrial Digital TV.

TD could also mean Television digital. Some Mexican DT's are actually referred to as -TDT.

The FCC query list doesn't show any recent request by Entravision (KBNT) to use channel 20.

K61GH has been forced off the air by ACCESS SPECTRUM. They were granted temporary authority to transmit on channel 9 (K09YL-D). They also have a pending application to move permanently to channel 50.

I heard that the Univision family is going HD sometime this year. Maybe XHAS will go HD since Telemundo has some HD content. However I could see Entravision offer an HD feed of KBNT, and KDTF for Cable, U-verse or even satellite. Unless they want to make those LD stations go digital.

I´ve found this new document of COFETEL wich enlists the channel allocations for the new DT (TDT) stations throughout all México. This document now confirms the new DT channel assignments for Tijuana from those appeared on the FCC document previously.

http://www.cft.gob.mx/work/sites/Cofetel_2008/resources/LocalContent/4143/2/tran s_canales_digi130106.pdf

Mmm... i see that new TDT channel 38 is subject to an international coordination. I wonder what does it mean.

Now it´s official. Channel 44 is the digital allocation for XHBJ 45 according to this recent document of Cofetel: http://www.cofetel.gob.mx/wb/Cofetel_2008/Cofe_canales_de_television_digital_in

I hope that this new channel signs in soon and that will broadcast the HD signal of Canal 5.

No news on the new DT ch. 47 for XHDTV 49.

The FCC has granted ch. 44 a while back. XHDTV wanted to use CH. 33.2 for their digital signal.

Yeah, you´re right. But in the first place we were not sure if ch 44 was the final allocation for XHBJ-DT because it wasn´t specified on the FCC document, only the new DT channels for Tijuana. Cofetel now confirms it, but, like many official documents, it´s subjet to changes, for example XHUAA-DT it move from ch 20 to 22.

David - it would be helpful if you also listed the virtual channel number(s) for the digitals.
