KTTV added a subchannel (11.2) that they are calling FOX SD. It is only a copy of their HD broadcast. Instead of either side cropping or letter boxing their HD broadcast into a SD (4:3) format, they did both -- left it letter boxed and stretched it to side crop it, distorting the aspect ratio. Yuck. I hope SD copies of HD channels is not a trend that catches on. They are a complete waste of bandwidth. Set top converters can perform the side crop or letter box for viewing on a SD (4:3) TV and allows the viewer to choose. No need to waste bandwidth with duplicate copies of the same broadcast |

According to some in the AVS forum (LA-ota) the KTTV SD sub-channel is actually coming from KCOP 13, but they mapped it 11.2 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=191672&page=223 Also, KTTV filed a request (pending) to raise power to 30Kw, using their existing antenna, until they can complete their construction of the 115Kw facility.
